  2. Day 2 Butkara No 1

Butkara No 1 is additionally called Butkara, or the neighbourhood name of Gulkada (gool-ka-da). This site has yielded perhaps the most extravagant collect of antiquities, all now in exhibition halls. The tremendous focal stupa was presumably started by Ashoka in the third century BC; by the tenth century it had been reconstructed multiple times, each new form encasing the last.

Encompassing it were more than 200 little stupas worked by affluent pioneers. To arrive, locate the principal street only north of the Swat Museum, off Saidu Sharif Rd, and walk east along it for 900m. At that point walk 250m north on a pathway across fields to a limit fence in a woods of trees.

  3. Day 3 Jambil Valley

At Panr (articulated ’pahn’) on the other (east) side of Jambil Khwar are a stupa and cloister from the first to fifth hundreds of years AD. You’ll discover a way and extension about 1.5km past Butkara No 3, or you can take 3km off along Haji Baba Rd from Mingora Bazaar. Farther at Loebanr, on the west side, are an Aryan memorial park from the second to first centuries BC and a third to fourth century AD stupa.

  4. Day 4 Butkara No 3

Further along the Jambil Valley is Butkara No 3, a part of the way recreated yard of encased stupas. To arrive, proceed with 500m past the mood killer to Butkara No 1 until you arrive at a duct. At that point climb five minutes up a crevasse to one side. It tends to be hard to track down, yet there’s a town in transit and somebody from that point can most likely show you.
